bigedsenior Aug 20, 2012:
The terminology is inexact. It was formed as a regiment with 3 batallions and 7 to 8 companys per batallion. So, it could not be the 5th regiment. Perhaps the 5th company of X batallion. It has aslo been called - "legion'; Cuerpo", but its makup is still that of a regiment.
Christine Walsh Aug 20, 2012:
The name would be 'Patricios de Campaña'. I think the word 'Patricias' has been used here because the writer has considered it an adjective, and 'Milicias' is a feminine noun.

from the 5th Regiment of the Patricias de Campaña Militia

I would not translate the Patricias de Campaña since it is the name.

Three mounted soldiers from the 5th Regiment of the Patricias de Campaña Militia.
