Spanish term

DUA

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Dialysis treatment
This abbreviation shows up in a report of a patient undergoing hemodialysis in a hospital; the patient also received a transfusion of red blood cells during the procedure. The description reads:

"Pte. grave en Ventilacion Mecanica sin sedacion c/ buena tolerancia, hemodinamicamente estable, c/ *DUA* (Dobutamina). Durante terapia con tendencia a la hipertension sistolica ... etc.

I don't find DUA in the KudoZ glossaries or in the Tremedica site, and I don't find this abbreviation in connection with Dobutamina, so I don't think it's an abbreviation for this drug.

What is this abbreviation in this context? That is, what is it in Spanish and how would we say it in English?

Discussion

Joseph Tein (asker) Nov 11, 2010:
I read the abbreviation wrong Thank you everybody for your suggestions and comments. After reading and re-reading this handwritten abbreviation, I've decided it was "DVA" which stands for " derivación ventriculoabdominal " -- which makes much more sense in this context.
Juan Ripoll Nov 2, 2010:
Saludos

Lorena: Thanks for your comment. I also had only found "diagnóstico de la última alta" but I don't think it fits here because of the word order of the sentence and the context. I'm doing a long series of these reports about many patients, and they're all inpatients being treated for kidney and/or respiratory problems. I'm guessing that DUA refers to some sort of treatment/medication and that "Dobutamina" specifies what was administered.

The only DUA I know is Diagnóstico de la última alta, but I don't see how it would fit here :-( Do you think it has to do with the stable part?
El diagnóstico de la última alta indica que estaba hemodinamicamente estable?
Just an idea!
