Recién vi la respuesta de Elena. Sí, sería un doublet, pero si quisieras mantener dos términos esta es mi opción :)

heir unconditional

Explanation:
Unconditional heirs are those who inherit without any reservation, or without making an inventory, whether their acceptance be express or tacit.
You don't need to translate libre as it is a whole expression, "universal y libre".
Hope it is useful!

For example, in this piece of text "En el mencionado Testamento el causante nombró heredero universal y libre a su hijo Don * y legó el usufructo "
vlex.com/tags/usufructuario-universal-615262 you see "universal y libre" is a whole expression. We assume in Ross's questions this context and meaning.

residuary beneficiary (legatee + devisee) entitled absolutely

Explanation:
residuary - takes all after payment of taxes

unconditional - untied by a usufructo/life interest or legitima/entrenched portion. Synoymous with absolute as initimated by Carola & Elena.

Both concepts need be incorporated.

Beneficiary includes both a legatee of CHATTELS/MONEY and devisee of LAND/BUILDINGS:

Example sentence(s):
  • En el mencionado Testamento el causante nombró heredero universal y libre a su hijo Don * y legó el ...... los bienes inventariados en esta escritura, ...

universal heir (or successor)

Explanation:
universal successor
1- Black's Law Dictionary: one who succeeds to all rights and powers of a former owner.
2- Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law: in the civil law of Louisiana : a successor (as an heir, universal legatee, or legatee under universal title) who succeeds to the rights and obligations of the ancestor in title, continues possession by the ancestor's title, and is responsible for the debts of the succession — NOTE: Neither a usufructuary under universal title nor a universal usufructuary is a universal successor.
-----
heredero univeral - heredero universal y libre

After comparing the Spanish and Argentine Codes, it seems to me that the difference lies in the wording rather than the concept.

While in Spain the code refers to the "heredero universal y libre", in Argentina the Civil Code refers to the "heredero universal".

In addition, *heredero universal* shall not be confused with *heredero forzoso* (==>legal heir), the latter being one who takes the succession by relationship to the decedent and by force of law.

Note that In Spanish "sole heir" is "heredero único"
único ==> being the only one; (Merriam-Webster: belonging exclusively or otherwise limited to one usually specified individual, unit, or group
