Explanation:
Una "valencia" es la capacidad de algo de combinarse con otras cosas, en medicina (y en lingüística también). Normalmente tiene el sentido de "combinación", pero yo creo que aquí pesa más el significado de "capacidad, potencial, susceptibilidad".
Nunca había visto el palabro usado en un contexto no científico, de modo que no estoy convencido plenamente de mi propuesta.
