Bus/Financial - Law (general) / Venezuelan use of the degree sign in court documents
Spanish term or phrase: 196° y 147°
Good snowy-afternoon-in-the-U.S. Northeast!

The document is a divorce decree from Venezuela. The context is the first heading:

Sección de Protección de la Circunscripción Judicial del Estado XXXXX
196° y 147°

What does the degree sign refer to? A law number, a court number?
As always, a thousand thanks!

196th anniversary of Independence and 147th anniversary of the Federation
Explanation:
I did some Venezuelan documents recently and this is expressed in nearly all official documents. More recently, they appear to also mark the anniversary of the revolution too.

There are probably other ways to translate it, but this is the meaning.

Taña's posted a good reference below, I think I would use Toni Castano's wording instead, i.e., Year 197 of Independence and 147 of the Federation.
