: along with S. Grossman it is not rendered illegible but rather concealed to the reader. / Technically you are right but illegible sounds like it was legible before and due to ie.spilling cofee or bad printout it is "illegible". Not idiomatic.

"Redacted" is the term used in law and business for concealing text for confidentiality and other reasons. I am sure of the answer as I work as a commercial lawyer in New York.
