German term or phrase: Gartenkunst / Landschaftskultur
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two? In all the dictionaries I can find Gartenkunst is translated as landscape gardening (which is the term I would have given to "Landschaftskultur") and for "Landschaftskultur" I can find nothing at all, yet they seem to be two different things in German e.g. Zentrum fuer Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur; Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur.

Thanks.

Garden design / landscape gardening

Explanation:
I proofread a German-English translation of a book entitled "Gartenkunst in Europa" a few years back. That title was
translated as "Garden Design in Europe". Perhaps you could use "garden design" for the first term and "landscape gardening" for the second??

agree  Heidi Stone-Schaller: I wouldn't say landscape gardening as Landschaftskultur seems to imply more than designing and planting flower beds

Try to read the message out of \"Garden design / landscape gardening\" and then find a term from practical examples which carries the same message.
