My KudoZ term search demonstrated that "überzeugen" is one of those German words which are used a lot more than the "straight" English equivalent (here : to convince).
The title of a short marketing text for a company newsflash on the website is " Produkt X überzeugt bei der Y-Konferenz". Later on in the text we have "Die Besucher der Konferenz hatten die Gelegenheit, sich von dem Produkt X zu überzeugen".
Ideally I would like a similar word for the intransitive "überzeugt" and the reflexive "sich überzeugen" as the latter picks up on the former in the German original.

neutral  Cilian O'Tuama: sway doesn't work here IMO because it brings the competition into the equation - "swayed" them away from the competition. The reader asks "from whom".
