tipsy cake

Explanation:
Terribly quaint sounding if you ask me, but " tipsy cake is a sweet dessert cake, made originally of "fresh sponge cakes soaked in good sherry and good brandy."

And if it contains alcohol, we might as well blame those notorious tipplers, the Scots:

I'm basing my answer on the fact that the Ponche (possibly lexically related to the English drink punch?) I described in the discussion section is a fruity alcohol of the type used in this type of dessert cake.

And 'brazos' are the pc-sanitised version of "brazo de gitano", a roly-poly or jam roll type thing.

layered rectangle cake

Explanation:
I do not know a specific name for this kind of "ponche", so I am suggesting a description. You could leave "ponche" and explain between brackets.

It is made with custard, cake and marzipan, all held in place with syrup. [BTW, this version contains whiskey"]

This is a Spanish dessert typical from Segovia. It is made with custard, cake and marzipan, all held in place with syrup. (This recipe serves 4) It seems like a lot of work but it's not so hard to make, it will just take a bit of time. PS:As the steps come out disordered, I've listed them. Hope that helps.

INGREDIENTS:

200 g Almonds
1.5 cup Milk
250 g Icing sugar
1 Glug Whiskey
25 g Cornstarch
80 g Flour
280 g Sugar
1 cup Water
6 Eggs
