bloquear

Explanation:
En el contexto, "bloqueando".

"stuff
verb, sports term. To block a scoring attempt, or to block a player with a fair amount of force so as to stop them in their tracks."
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=stuff&page=2

Creo que esta definición se ajusta perfectamente al contexto.

Otros ejemplos:

"Williams got five yards on first down up the middle. He got the call on second down, but junior linebacker John Reynolds flew into the gap and stuffed the play for a 1-yard loss. [...] “That was a big play,” Way-mire said of Reynolds tackle."

Aquí está claro que se trata de un placaje.

neutral  Edward Potter: The references here are good but I don´t think we should arrive at "bloquear". "Impedir" would be closer to the contextual meaning.

-> Thanks for the comment, Edward, but I don't agree. You can't say "impedimos a los Cardinals en tres jugadas sucesivas". It means we blocked three of their plays, so they couldn't gain any yards.

Otra opción puede ser "no les permitió nada (de terreno)".

Our D responded by stuffing the Cardinals on three straight plays, forcing Arizona = En respuesta, nuestra defensa no les cedió/permitió/dio nada [de terreno] a los Cardinales en tres jugadas consecutivas, obligándole a Arizona

¡Espero que le sirva!
