Could anybody help me?
I am working with Word documents mostly ( I am sure you do the same). I realised that the word count ignores the text in the text-boxes. What shall I do? Almost the half of the document I am working now with contains text-boxes..
Does anybody know how to deal with this? Any special softwares?

Definitely, Complete Word Count is a great free tool. However, it doesn't count number of characters.

Macro for counting words (and characters) in text boxes Apr 4, 2006

Hej Elenor,

I realised that the word count ignores the text in the text-boxes. What shall I do? Almost the half of the document I am working now with contains text-boxes..
Does anybody know how to deal with this?

You can use a macro ("Wordcount") in order to count words in text boxes in Word - I learned about it here at ProZ.com:

Certainly. You can count anything, even text boxes. Simply start with “one” and continue down the line.

Hi Selcuk,

I asked Shauna Kelly to include this but never received a reply.

Use Text Boxer (http://www.volny.cz/ddaduc/textboxes.html) if you have to count characters. This macro by David Daduč extracts all text from text boxes (and fills the text boxes after translation).

Compare Shauna's word count with David's Word word count, just to be sure.

Regards,
Gerard
