Experience
Years of experience: 42. Registered at ProZ.com: Jan 2022.
I was born in the Netherlands and have British and American citizenships. However, I lived in Mexico for over 40 years and have close family ties there. I now "straddle the border" between the U.S. and Mexico having lived on the U.S. side since 2009.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Interpretation and Translation from Mexico City as well as one in Linguistics. My MAIS – Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies – from WNMU is in
English, Bilingual, and Multicultural Education.
For the last 40 or so years, I have been a free lance translator, interpreter, and editor (English /Spanish/English technical, legal, business, accounting, engineering, industrial, Harvard Business Review translations, etc).
In addition, during all this time I have also taught English, ESL, advanced English language structure, writing for business and academics, and technical writing at various universities in Mexico (Tecnologico de Monterrey, UACJ) and in the U.S., (UTEP and NMSU) as well as courses in English for Mexican executives in business seminars, negotiation skills, effective meetings, conflict resolution, managing cultural differences.
