Source text - English Warranties and Liability
The buyer is obliged to examine each Delivery immediately upon arrival. Any apparent defects (including damage in transit), incompleteness of the goods or any other variances from the confirmation of the order have to be notified immediately upon arrival of the Delivery at the destination in writing by specifying the defect, incompleteness or other variances, and quoting the invoice number.
Any hidden defects (including defects surfacing during manufacturing) have to be notified immediately after discovery. It shall be assumed that hidden defects are normally detectable within a period of sixty days after arrival unless the buyer is able to prove that it could not have reasonably detected the defect within that period.
Defective products must be kept available for the Seller’s inspections for 14 days from the date of the notification and must not be returned to the Seller earlier. Upon Seller’s request, specimens of the goods found faulty must be sent back to the Seller.
Translation - Ukrainian Гарантії та відповідальність
Покупець зобов'язаний перевірити кожну Поставку відразу після її прибуття. Про будь-які видимі недоліки (в тому числі пошкодження при перевезенні), неукомплектованість товарів або будь-які інші відхилення від підтвердження замовлення необхідно письмово повідомити відразу після прибуття Поставки в пункт призначення із зазначенням недоліку, неукомплектованості або інших відхилень і посиланням на номер рахунка-фактури.
Про будь-які приховані недоліки (в тому числі недоліки, що виникли під час виготовлення) необхідно повідомити відразу після виявлення. Передбачається, що приховані недоліки, як правило, виявляються протягом шістдесяти днів після прибуття, якщо покупець не зможе довести, що він обґрунтовано не міг виявити недолік протягом цього періоду.
Продукція з недоліками повинна зберігатися для перевірок Продавцем протягом 14 днів з дати повідомлення і не повинна повертатися Продавцю раніше. На прохання Продавця, зразки товарів, що виявилися бракованими, повинні бути відправлені назад Продавцю.
English to Russian: Excerpt from Residential Lease Agreement Detailed field: Law (general)
Source text - English NON-DELIVERY OF POSSESSION. In the event Landlord cannot deliver possession of the Premises to Tenant upon the commencement of the Lease term, through no fault of Landlord or its agents, then Landlord or its agents shall have no liability, but the rental herein provided shall abate until possession is given. Landlord or its agents shall have thirty (30) days in which to give possession, and if possession is tendered within such time, Tenant agrees to accept the demised Premises and pay the rental herein provided from that date. In the event possession cannot be delivered within such time, through no fault of Landlord or its agents, then this Residential Lease Agreement and all rights hereunder shall terminate.
Translation - Russian НЕОСУЩЕСТВЛЕНИЕ ПЕРЕДАЧИ ВО ВЛАДЕНИЕ. Если Арендодатель не может передать Помещения во владение Арендатору после начала срока Аренды не по вине Арендодателя или его агентов, то Арендодатель или его агенты не несут никакой ответственности, но предусмотренная настоящим Договором арендная плата отменяется до осуществления передачи во владение. Арендодателю или его агентам дается 30 (тридцать) дней на осуществление передачи во владение, и если передача во владение будет осуществлена в течение этого периода, Арендатор соглашается принять сданные в аренду Помещения и оплачивать предусмотренную настоящим Договором арендную плату с этой даты. Если передача во владение не может быть осуществлена в такой срок не по вине Арендодателя или его агентов, то настоящий Договор об аренде жилого помещения и все права по нему прекращают свое действие.
English to Russian: Excerpt from JUDGMENT of the ECHR CASE OF McILWRATH v. RUSSIA Detailed field: Law (general)
Source text - English 144. The Court reiterates the difference in nature of the interests protected by Articles 6 and 8 of the Convention. While Article 6 affords a procedural safeguard, namely the “right to a court” in the determination of one’s “civil rights and obligations”, Article 8 serves the wider purpose of ensuring proper respect for, inter alia, family life. The difference between the purposes pursued by the respective safeguards in Articles 6 and 8 may, in the light of the particular circumstances, justify the examination of the same set of facts under both Articles (see Sylvester v. Austria, nos. 36812/97 and 40104/98, § 76, 24 April 2003, with further reference).
145. The Court further reiterates that Article 6 of the Convention does not guarantee the right to appear in person before a civil court, but rather a more general right to present one’s case effectively before the court and enjoy equality of arms in relation to the opposing side. Article 6 § 1 of the Convention leaves to the State a free choice in the means to be used in guaranteeing litigants these rights. The Court should establish whether the applicant, a party to civil proceedings, was given a reasonable opportunity to have knowledge of and comment on the observations made or evidence adduced by the other party, and present his case in conditions which did not place him at a substantial disadvantage vis-à-vis his opponent.
Translation - Russian 144. Суд повторно подчеркивает разницу в характере интересов, охраняемых статьями 6 и 8 Конвенции. Хотя статья 6 предоставляет процессуальную гарантию, а именно «право на суд» при определении «гражданских прав и обязанностей» человека, статья 8 служит более широкой цели обеспечения надлежащего уважения, помимо прочего, к семейной жизни.
Разница между целями, преследуемыми соответствующими гарантиями в статьях 6 и 8, в свете конкретных обстоятельств может оправдать рассмотрение одного и того же набора фактов в соответствии с обеими статьями (см. Sylvester против Австрии, № 36812/97 и 40104/98, § 76, 24 апреля 2003 г., с дальнейшими ссылками).
145. Суд также повторно подчеркивает, что статья 6 Конвенции не гарантирует права предстать перед гражданским судом лично, а скорее более общее право эффективно представлять свое дело в суде и пользоваться равноправием в отношении противоположной стороны. Пункт 1 статьи 6 Конвенции предоставляет государству свободу выбора в отношении средств, которые будут использоваться для обеспечения этих прав сторонам судебного процесса. Суд должен установить, была ли предоставлена заявителю – стороне гражданского судопроизводства – разумная возможность ознакомиться со сделанными замечаниями или представленными доказательствами другой стороны и высказаться в их отношении, а также представлять свое дело в условиях, которые не ставили его в существенно невыгодное положение по отношению к его оппоненту.

I have a degree in both translation/interpreting and law. I have been working in the field of legal translation for 6 years, two of which at Kyiv Office of Baker&McKenzie. Before that I worked as a legal translator-editor at Profpereklad (one of the largest translation services providers in Ukraine and Eastern Europe) and as freelance translator at Task Force, Geftranslators and TranslateIt.
My principal objective is to deliver high-quality translation. In order to achieve this, I always use dictionaries, encyclopedias, project-specific glossaries, style guides, follow translation standards and client-specific instructions provided.
Main CAT tool I use is SDL Trados Studio 2017, but I also worked in MemSource, MemoQ and SmartCAT.
