Swedish term

utådrat blod

Swedish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
An autopsy report refers multiple times to ”utådrat blod”: e.g.,

"Under höger tumnagel, anträffas en ringa mängd svartrött utådrat blod."

"På halsens högra sida, [i de] zonen med tre små hudsår, anträffas en ringa mängd svartrött utådrat blod i övre skiktet av underhudsfettet som är oskadat på dess inre begränsning."

”ådra” apparently means ”blood vessel”, but it seems too unspecific to translate ”utådrat blood” with a phrase like ”blood from out of the blood vessels”, etc.

However, I can't get any further grip on what ”utådrat blood” might mean.

Thoughts?

Thanks

extravasation of blood

This is a medical (autopsy) term for the leaking of blood from a blood vessel into the surrounding tissue. Your first example sentence might run "... a small extravasation of dark red blood". Many examples and links to follow here: https://tinyurl.com/yylajh5x

agree Deane Goltermann : Like Chris says I'd use 'extravated' , but its the right term!

Thanks Deane, and I can see that "extravasated blood" is just as, if not more, common an expression as "an extravasation of blood". So Chris should really have it.
