Some might say that 丸型( means 'circular' but, in this case, because it refers to the actual shape of the electrodes the better translation is probably 'cylindrical'. I would translate the entire phrase as "Cylindrical, man-made (synthetic, artificial) graphite electrodes". Unlike carbon, graphite is a conductor (substance that conducts electricity) and, therefore, highly suitable for use as an electrode. HTH.
