Catalan term

cadiral

Catalan to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
The word cadiral is italicised in the orig. Could this be cadira in Balearic Island Catalan?

Orig
Aquesta cadira de braços, resultat de la readaptació d’un moble popular illenc, és un bon exemple d’aquest nou interès que caldria denominar cadiral, per ser fidels als orígens illencs.

Draft
This chair, the result of a readaptation of a popular piece of furniture, the illenc, or island, is a good example of this new interest which could be called the cadiral, to be faithful to the origins of the illenc.
Proposed translations (English)

'Catalans tell me that the language isn't Romance' I don't know where they got that from!
Andy Watkinson Jun 28, 2014:
"Cadiral", to the best of my knowledge, is simply a "bucket seat" type of chair. Nothing particular to the Balearics, but bear in mind I've had Catalans tell me that the language isn't Romance, and that Auld Lang Syne is an old Catalan song. ;-)

Sorry, that was the original rough draft. "This chair, the result of a readaptation of a piece of furniture popular on the Balearic Islands, is a good example of this new interest which could be called the cadiral, to be faithful to its island origins. "

cadiral

Illenc is simply the adjective for island:
"This chair, the result of a readaptation of a popular piece of island furniture, is a good example of this new interest which could be called the cadiral, to be faithful to the island origins.

Cadiral could refer to the interest (in chairs) or the chair itself. You could ask the client to clarify the ambiguity.

Indeed, it would seem to be an armchair: http://www.diccionari.cat/lexicx.jsp?GECART=0147985
