I cannot suggest a solution, so here is a piece of destructive criticism:
I think it should be kept in mind that the title of this course was devised by a linguistics expert. S/he must have had some reason for saying "Wirkungs-" instead of ´"Kausal-". In fact, I think that is the whole point: It is somehow about effects, not causes.
I do hope someone finds out what it really is.

I agree with Sirius that it's not so much the cause as the effect that is being stressed here.
When I first saw your query, I thought of cause and effect and interdependence. And I'd suggest using either "interdependencies" or "interrelationships" or maybe even "interaction". I know those words do not translate back exactly to Wirkungszusammenhang, but that's the sense that I get from the German. I'd drop the "context" altogether and looks towards interaction.
That's my two cents' worth. Hope it helps!
