French term

élaboration

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
l'elaboration du permis de construire

This is a bullet point in a list of services offered by a building company. Would "elaboration" just mean "application" here? i.e. "applications for planning permission"?
I presume that here the builders are drawing up the documents necessary for the application, so they're just saying they can help with the bureaucratic side of things as well as the building.

preparation (in this context)

Noramlly build permit applications require forms to be filled out and drawings of building plan and elevations attached. I have done a lot of this stuff!

agree Sylvia Smith : Yes - I agree - preparation is much better than what I had! I will go ahead and hide my answer. Thanks Richard.

French term (edited): elaboration

planning permission procedures

Seems to me it's quite vague in the French, so why not keep it vague in English?
Peer comment(s):

disagree Richard Hedger : sorry to contradict you, but it really is the term in French that I come across all the time in my job as a civl engineer

Drawing up

application forms/dossiers and applying for planning permission

As you say.

Remains to be seen from the context whether they help you with the actual application process itself...
