We are fast approaching the end of the year and it will be time to make our wishes for the new year to our clients and colleagues. I find it nice to have an overview of formulations in various languages and, in addition, it can be useful to us, isn't it? I would like to have common, natural and , why not, uncommon formulations. In French, for example, we wrote: Traditional: Joyeux Noël et bonne année. Friendly and festive: Joyeuses fêtes. Complete sentence (eg): Nous vous souhaitons un très joyeux Noël et une année 2014 exceptionnelle. And in your language, how do you make your wishes?

Happy Christmas and Happy New Year-simple. Maltese-Il-Milied it-tajjeb u s-Sena t-tajba lil kulhadd(kulhadd should have the h crossed, but I won't put it as, otherwise, the letter will appear differently if you do not have the Maltese keyboard.

Every time I catch this thread title on the Recent Thread page, I get the same sinking feeling that I get when Christmas cards come out in shops in September/October and Christmas lights are hung up in high streets mid-November. Am I the only one? Back on topic, I gear my wishes for the new year towards a "Season's greetings" concept rather than a "Merry Christmas"-type idea.
