My question is with the CV - those are cavalli, I know, but I am confused how to render this in English. Would it be cc or hp?

Il CV è una unità di misura non più consentita dal sistema internazionale (SI).
IO userei i kW dato che ora anche per le automobili si indica la potenza in kW (potresti mettere in parentesi gli hp)

CV sono i cavalli vapore, unità sempre usata in Europa; su alcuni testi di tabelle americane, i CV sono definiti "metric horsepower" con l'abbreviazione KS. Le norme ISO 1000 per la "potenza" fanno uso solo del watt (W) e dei suoi multipli o sottomultipli.

Il cavallo vapore europeo (secondo le misurazioni DIN, Deutsches Institut für Normung) è un'unità ancora molto diffusa in Europa. La sua abbreviazione cambia da Stato a Stato:
PS in Germania (Pferdestärke, "forza del cavallo")
pk nei Paesi Bassi (paardenkracht, "forza del cavallo")
ch in Francia (chevaux, "cavalli" sottointeso "vapore" perché CV in Francia indica la potenza fiscale)

Se qualcuno leggesse i riferimenti (ma non si ha mai tempo!!!) troverebbe la conferma anche da quanto suggerito da Cynthiatesser, dove si vede che
Mechanical horsepower --> hp(I) ≡ 33,000 ft-lbf/min = 550 ft·lbf/s
= 745.699872 W
Metric horsepower --> hp(M) ≡ 75 kgf·m/s ≡ 735.49875 W
Quest'ultimo è quello che noi chiamiamo cavallo vapore CV
La differenza è circa 1%

I respect Kelly's final selection; however I do not agree in changing the measurement unit w/o changing the value (even if the difference is about 1,5%)
