Greek term or phrase: κριτήρια επιλογής εξέτασης Είναι αυτονόητο ότι λόγω της τεράστιας εκροής των Μέσων καθίσταται μάλλον αδύνατον ή τουλάχιστον περιττό να αναλυθεί στο σύνολό της. Αυτό σε συνδυασμό με το γεγονός ότι ενδέχεται και ο ίδιος ο όγκος των δεδομένων, που αφορούν το υπό εξέταση αντικείμενο να είναι εξαιρετικά μεγάλος, καθιστούν αναγκαία την εφαρμογή μίας δειγματοληπτικής μεθόδου. Θα πρέπει, δηλαδή, να γίνει κάποιου είδους επιλογή ανάμεσα στις επικοινωνιακές πηγές, τις οποίες πρόκειται να παρακολουθήσουμε, για να καλύψουμε τις ερευνητικές μας ανάγκες. Είναι, επομένως, απαραίτητο να περιοριστεί το εύρος και το είδος της κάλυψης, που πρέπει να αναλυθεί και να επιλεχθεί ένα αντιπροσωπευτικό τμήμα δείγμα των Μέσων, που πρόκειται να παρακολουθήσουμε. ***Τα κριτήρια επιλογής εξέτασης*** συγκεκριμένων δεδομένων έναντι κάποιων άλλων διαφέρουν και εξαρτώνται από το είδος του θέματος ή αντικειμένου, το οποίο διερευνάται κάθε φορά.
