intermediate management balances
Basically, the intermediate management balances (IMB) are indicators
determined in cascade (Iacob C., 1996) in the form of money accumulation
margins, designed to perform a specific function the remuneration of the factors of production and of financing of future activity, which highlights the stages of the formation of the net result of the accounting period in close connection with the structure of the incomes and expenses of the company activity.
Achieving this objective requires, according to the author G.Vintilă (2002,
pp.31-32), a pre-treatment of the profit and loss account to reveal in order to
highlight the manner of operation and the profitability of the company, as
commercial margin, output of the accounting period, value added, gross operating surplus, operating result, current result and net result of the accounting period.

Daryo
: the reference is definitely a very relevant one, my only reserve is that it's "Romanian English". although it does seem reasonably well written.

: Your other reference is also Romanian. It's a reasonable translation, but it won't mean anything to an Anglo reader without further explanation.

Comment: "Thanks François, it's a tricky term but out of the answers I think this is probably the way to go, with an explanation if needed."

stepped analytical balances
"de gestion" => used for management purpose => you need to analyse data before using them
"soldes intermédiaires" => these "balances" are steps in calculating "Résultat de l'exercice"
"soldes intermédiaires" => these "balances" are steps in calculating "Résultat de l'exercice"

Where is the evidence? ???? Well, if you can't see what's staring at you ....

: Nice idea, but it won't mean anything to the reader without further explanation, so it's ultimately no clearer than a word-for-word translation would be.

true, but that's basically the problem with any concept that is unknown in the target language // this "label" describes reasonable well what's in the tin, I would think?

Discussion
What do you think about this translation:
intermediate management components of the income statement
See the 4-2 and 4-3 pages of the attachment: https://images.template.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/30095...
I think there are two ways of approaching this, depending on context.
If you need to refer to this particular French way of slicing up the profit and loss, then 'intermediate management balances' might work - but I'd put it in scare quotes, and/or add a gloss, explaining that these are various standard profit measures used for analysis purposes in French accounting.
If you can afford to be less precise, it might be ok simply to refer to "analytical profit measures", "management profit indicators" or something like that.
You might have noticed than that "intermédiaires" has NOTHING to do with time/timeline but with stages in calculating "Résultat de l'exercice" ...
Something along the lines of "analytical subsets of the total revenue" would be closer to the meaning.
Practically, all these "soldes intermédiaires" are stages in calculating "le Résultat net de l'exercice" but are also in effect various ways of "slicing" the same set of data for analytical purposes.
As in:
But, instead of relying ONLY on someone else's translation (that could a priori be the best possible one as much as total crap), I would rather start from scratch ("toujours vérifier à la source")
"interim balances" sounds like a set a "temporary" figures computed at some point in time within the accounting period, a kind of "temporary indicators" that will do while waiting for the end of the accounting period.
That hardly agrees with the definition given:
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldes_intermédiaires_de_gesti...
and I can't see how "interim" would make sense in this graphic:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/SIG-upda...
Admittedly, you could also interpret "interim" as stages in calculating the balance sheet, but that's not how it's used => there is serious risk of "interim balances" being misunderstood:
