Explanation:
The biological activity of a number of ophthalmic drugs is influenced by drug-protein interaction in tissues and fluids of the eye. High concentration of protein in lacrimal fluid, in both normal and pathological states, coupled with a relatively rapid turnover of this fluid, which moves drug solution away from the eye, leads to a considerable loss in drug activity for drugs that bind to protein.

إن معرفة توزيع الجسم للدواء تعتبر نقطة مهمة لاختيار الدواء المعطى وتحديد جرعته. إن توزيع معظم الأدوية في الجسم يتأثر بعدة عوامل مختلفة ويكون مرتبطاً بالفئات العمرية للإنسان، ومن هذه العوامل ما يتعلق بالدواء نفسه والمتمثلة بخصائصه الفيزيائية والكيميائية، إضافة إلى درجة ارتباط الدواء بالبروتينات وحجم سوائل وانسجة الجسم ، معدل ضخ القلب، ومعدل جريان الدم إلى مناطق الجسم المختلفة، ونفاذية الأغشية البيولوجية المختلفة للدواء .
