agree  luskie: si, vedo che in siti italiani che parlano di bandwidth e ottimizzazione si trovano anche espressioni come scheduling opportunistico o approccio opportunistico, mi pare che la strada possa essere questa

Opportunistic data è un metodo o modalità particolare che permette di massimizzare la banda disponibile immettendo nel mezzo fisico dati aggiuntivi derivati dalla compressione di un flusso video.

Non ho trovato in nessun sito alcun riferimento a "dati opportunistici", ritengo dunque che una traduzione letterale non sia possibile.
Ecco perchè lascerei l'espressione tale e quale all'originale solo con l'aggiunta di "metodo/modalità" per una maggiore chiarezza.
