English to Turkish: The Nakedness of Truth General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English The Nakedness of Truth (I know it well)
Despair has no wings,
Nor has love,
No countenance:
They do not speak.
I do not stir,
I do not behold them,
I do not speak to them,
But I am as real as my love and my despair.
Paul Eluard
Translation - Turkish Gerçeğin Çıplaklığı (çok iyi bildiğim)
Umarsızlığın kanatları yoktur,
aşkın da öyle.
Bunların suratları görünmez:
Konuşmazlar.
Ben yerimden kıpırdamıyorum,
onları görmüyorum,
onlarla konuşmuyorum,
ama aşkım ve umarsızlığım kadar gerçeğim.
Paul Eluard

Bio
I provide professional and full-time translation services from English into Turkish. Due to my insatiable appetite for books and knowledge I am quite confident of my English comphrension in many fields, but I don't offer translation services from Turkish into English, since that is a job for translators living in / travelling to English-speaking countries.
I believe that a good translator should "know" herself/himself first of all, so that (s)he won't make the common mistakes listed below:
- accepting a job that (s)he doesn't have sufficient experience/knowledge to translate well
- accepting a job that (s)he doesn't have sufficient time/energy to translate well
- forgetting that the online translation delivery process is a team job (even if (s)he is alone at her/his home) incorporating many different people in different departments and/or companies, and thinking that his/her needs are paramount (regarding payment, technical issues, deadlines, Q&A, etc.)
- tendency to harbor personal misperceptions, i.e. about her/his need for rest, motives, honesty, money, sleep, etc. - any of which will harm quality in a translation job
In other words, I don't promote myself as possessing the above qualities - because I believe these are the natural prerequisites for being a good translator. But I try to be faithful to myself, and as long as I can manage this, I believe that I will deliver quality translations.
..........
I have undertaken translation assignments in the fields of science (especially earth sciences and biology), medicine, social sciences, philosophy and literature. Please ask for a comprehensive list of recently undertaken projects.
