Bio
I am a professional translator and have worked for many years for the Brazilian branch of Encyclopedia Brittannica as an encyclopedia entry translator.

Later on I started to work with Editora Campus, which now is part of the Elsevier Group, to which I had the pleasure of translating dozens of non-fiction books in many different areas such as marketing, medical science, cosmetics, literature comments, and many others. The experience has been fantastic and has taught me a lot.

I just finished my first fiction translation to Editora Record, one of Brazil's largest publisher.
I have also worked for 30 years at the most important Brazilian steelmaking company, namely Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional - CSN, first as a secretary, then as a Board of Directors' assistant. After I completed my graduation studies as a journalist, I entered the Communications staff. In such department I had the opportunity to exercise not only my writing abilities as a journalist, but also much complex tasks such as organizing large press events and also artistic events for many, many people - concerts, shows, presidential visits, and so forth.

Working with CSN enabled me to develop a deep knowledge of the steelmaking technical terms, and as an employee I could undertake countless translation internal jobs involving technical language.

I am also familiar with preparing speaches, official communications, and company's publications and house organs. For over 10 years I was responsible for a daily news bulletin directed to a population of over five thousand employees, which was rated "very trustworthy" by them in five yearly internal opinion polls.

For many years I was responsible for elaborating the final text of the company's Annual Report in Portuguese, and for two years, I also wrote the English version of my own text. In all the times I was responsible for the text in Portuguese, I also undertook the final checking of the English version, working in close connection with the technical specialists and also the publishing agencies hired by the Company for the job.

I retired from my full-time job at CSN in August 2005, but never ceased to do my independent work as a translator. I take great pleasure in writing - I write in both languages - and in translating from English to Portuguese. I am also qualified to write English versions of Portuguese originals. I can guarantee the quality and the timeliness of my work and I am available for performing tests whenever required.

As a journalist, I am also qualified to keep track of printing proofs and elaborating publications in general. Presently I write two blogs in the internet, both in Portuguese and dedicated to journalism, creative writing, essays, and travel logs. Here are my links:
