I am an authorized translator (English to Swedish), certified by the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency, and a member of the Federation of Authorized Translators in Sweden.
Swedish and English are the languages I handle every day, translating both ways, editing, reviewing and proofreading. I also translate into Swedish from German, French, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish and Russian.
I have a university degree as a Swedish language consultant and 26 years of full-time professional experience in writing, translation and editing. For the most part, I have been active in the IT business, but I have also worked with texts relating to automotive and manufacturing industry, as well as associated research and technology. Other projects include environmental technology, pulp and paper machinery, (bio)medicine, foods, polymers, corporate finance, energy efficiency, government/EU functions, legislation/legal processes and construction equipment, to mention a few fields.
My typical assignment is a technology-related text, such as a patent application (I have translated some 500, most of them from English), manual, press release, product description, job ad or financial report.
I have also
• written several intranet articles on project management for Ericsson
• produced material for industrial trade magazines
• written, translated and edited customer newsletters and web pages for various purposes
• translated a 450-page book on the human physiology from German
I can take on many roles, from the creative copywriter to the meticulous translator or the merciless proofreader, and I have never missed a deadline.
Last summer I won the competition for Swedish Language Editor (see http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/eu-careers.info/assistants/language-editors-ast-3/) at the Court of Justice of the European Union, but I turned down the job offer because in the end I prefer to remain a freelancer.
From 1986 to 2000, I was employed as a technical writer, editor and translator (primarily with Swedish computer consultancy WM-data and with Ericsson). I worked with manuals, software texts, sales promotion material, product descriptions, etc. I also taught report writing to economics students, designed document templates and set the linguistic standards for my colleagues.
For about 18 months, I was the section manager of a group of about ten information designers at Ericsson.
My normal rate (English to Swedish) is EUR 0.12 per word, but deadlines, work volume, complexity and other factors may be reasons for discounts or surcharges. If I have access to (a representative sample of) the material in question, I can submit a quotation. Feel free to send me proposals, because if you are lucky I have less to do and I can then offer translations at a reduced rate.
My weekly turnover (English to Swedish) is about 15,000 words.
