Source text - English On one of the edges of the Pic, built on the site of a Roman fort, Montferrand Castle was the property of the Counts of Toulouse. In 1208, at the beginning of the crusade against the Albigensians, the Pope accused Count Raymond VI of Toulouse of the murder of the Papal Legate Pierre de Castelnau. To clear his name, the Count handed over to the Bishops of Maguelone eight of his most important fortresses in the region, including Montferrand Castle. They were never returned to him. In 1698, Montferrand Castle, which had outlived its strategic use, was demolished.
Translation - German Am Pic St. Loup, auf dem einstigen Standort einer römischen Festung, steht das Schloss Montferrand, das früher den Grafen von Toulouse gehörte. Im Jahre 1208, zu Beginn des Kreuzzuges gegen die Albigenser, beschuldigte der Papst den Grafen Raymond VI von Toulouse für den Mord am päpstlichen Legaten Pierre de Castelnau. Um seinen Namen zu säubern, überreichte der Graf dem Bischof von Maguelone acht seiner wichtigsten Festungen, unter anderem Schloss Montferrand. Er bekam sie nie wieder zurück. 1698 wurde Schloss Montferrand abgerissen, da dessen strategischer Zweck nicht mehr von Nutzen war.
