I am an Algerian petroleum engineer, with 6 years experience working for Anadarko Algeria-SONATRACH joinventure.

My mother tongue is Kabyle and my whole education was in French and Arabic until I obtained my B.S. in production engineering in late1997. I then started a Master’s Degree Program with the University of Oklahoma. This program consisted of one year English language preparation in Algiers, including one month in London with “Language Solutions”. A TOEFL score of 553 allowed me to start the technical courses.

Since I started working for Anadarko Algeria in 2001, all the work and communication has been in English. However, as French is the main language in the petroleum industry in Algeria I am regularly involved in translating reports, presentations and even emails in some cases in addition to my purely technical tasks.

I have also been involved in translating medical and pharmaceutical articles and technical papers for several people in my neighborhood including my wife in her translation work for her thesis in biology. Three years studies in natural sciences and biology during my secondary school helped me build a good background in this field which is still part of my fields of interest.

For your information, I work on a 28 day rotation basis, which allows me to have free time to do any (English/French) translation jobs in petroleum industry, biology and medical fields.
