Bio

Born, brought up and educated in Italy (Diploma di Maturità Scientifica, Liceo Scientifico Paolo Frisi, Monza; Politecnico di Milano, Milan), I currently reside in Alexandria, VA (USA), and am self-employed, full-time, as a technical translator. I started my career the non-traditional way, thanks to a passion for language, life sciences, and medical technology. After an initial stint working in-house at a translation agency and learning the ropes, I debuted my freelance career as a Medical Translator in 1990.

Since then, I have translated a wide variety of texts into my native language, Italian.

I have honed my expertise through hands-on translation experience and in-depth terminological research in several medical areas, such as medical devices (with emphasis on endovascular and other interventional/diagnostic minimally invasive surgical devices), IVD, medical laboratory equipment, and clinical studies. I also enjoy working on harmonized translation of health outcomes and QOL questionnaires.

I am detail-oriented, sensitive to each project's specific requirements, and aware of cultural adaptation and ethical issues. I constantly seek knowledge in order to achieve a better understanding of my end-clients', needs, products and services. I aim to provide engaging and technically accurate texts that read as if they had been authored in the target language, specifically for their intended target audiences.

While I do not use MT (machine translation) or cloud-based applications due to quality and confidentiality issues, I avail myself of up-to-date translation technologies, and can assist with the various stages of the translation workflow.

My core mission is to make my clients' translation experience simple, enjoyable, collaborative, and worry-free, by consistently providing uncompromising quality and a high degree of efficiency, accuracy and punctuality, with a personal touch and definite emphasis on direct, clear communication. Aware that getting it right the first time is the best way to maximize my end-clients' return on their translation investment, I strive to go beyond the basics by offering a highly professional service, complete with cultural insight and expertise, knowledge and reliability. I consider myself a partner in translation, and am committed to building sustained relationships based on integrity, loyalty and trust.
