Limping
This symptom is pretty straightforward. Dogs can limp for a variety of reasons, mostly all of them related to pain. As dogs get older, many will experience arthritis. Some other indications that your dog is experiencing pain from arthritis might be refusing to go up the stairs or slow to get up in the mornings. Stiffness is another sign of arthritis pain. Many people will say - “Oh he's just getting old.” This may be true, but this does not mean that their dog can't feel pain just because they are old. There are ways to help dogs with arthritis and the signs shouldn't just be ignored or brushed away.

Once, my mum told me a story about a princess, and it began with her stuck in a castle. My story begins with my head stuck in the toilet.
It was my first day in Area 14 and my first opportunity to make a good impression at the school appropriately named St Jude’s. Any school with the Blemished as pupils deserved the saint of lost causes as their patron. I’d approached the old Victorian building with a hopeful feeling; this was a new start, a chance to finally make friends. But it was the same hopeful feeling which was beaten away within the hour. An hour was all it took for a GEM to push my head down the toilet and flush.
Her bony hand squeezed my skull. Water pulled my skin. It flooded my nose. I choked and my fingernails scraped the porcelain. I thought ¬– this is how I am going to die, with my face being sucked down a drain. Then, I almost did it again. In the twitch of my fingers I felt the urge to do the one thing my father told me I could never do. The thing which would get us both killed.
“Now you know your place, Blem,” said the girl. She released me and I gasped for air. “Next time I won’t let you go.”
Her heels sounded against the tiles and the girl and her group ran off in giggles. I dragged myself up from the floor with shaking legs. At the sink, I took a deep breath and tried to calm my pounding heart and quell the rising disappointment. This was supposed to be my fresh start away from Area 10. I removed my headscarf and laughed. Moving here was supposed to keep me safe. Like my dad said – out of the frying pan and into the fire.
“If you can’t stand the heat…” I mumbled to myself.
“Are you all right?”
I jumped. When I turned there was a dark skinned girl staring at me sheepishly with a charming gap-toothed smile. On her black tunic she wore the Symbol of the Blemished – a circle containing a simple cross to remind us how we are the cross that society has to bear. Just like me. She was slightly plump and I estimated her age at fourteen, perhaps a tall thirteen, with pretty brown eyes.
“I’m sorry I didn’t step in…” she trailed off and stared down at her hands which never stopped worrying the long sleeves of her tunic.
“Don’t worry,” I said. “There’s no point both of us getting a beating.” I forced a smile to show no hard feelings. After all, I needed at least one ally in this awful school. I turned back to the sink and squeezed at my soaked headscarf.
“It’s just that, well, these toilets are GEM only and I only popped in because I was desperate,” the girl rambled. “Elena Darcey is a total cow. She thinks she owns the school because she might have a shot at London.”
A jolt ran down my spine. I had to remind my hands to keep going.
“Are you sure you’re all right?” the girl asked, her face scrunched with concern.
“Perfectly,” I lied.
“I’m Angela by the way.” She stepped towards me but I didn’t turn around, just watched her in the bathroom mirror. “You must be Mina Hart, the new girl.” She laughed quietly. “We don’t get many new girls at St Jude’s. Well, at least none that are Blemished. Here, let me help. It’s the least I can do.”
Angela pulled the scarf from my fingers and stretched it out underneath the hand dryer. The dark fabric billowed out, reminding me of the Resistance flag. I’d seen photos of them protesting once, my dad showed me. But then I thought of her and I had to close my eyes to regain composure.
“Is it always like this here?” I asked to break the drone of the hand dryer, raising my voice above the noise.

Era il mio primo giorno nell’Area 14 e la mia prima occasione di fare una buona impressione nella scuola a cui era stato dato un nome appropriato: San Giuda. Ogni scuola che ospitava come alunni i Blemished, i ‘Difettosi’, meritava il nome di un santo delle cause perse come protettore.
Mi ero avvicinata al vecchio edificio vittoriano con un sentimento di speranza: per me era un nuovo inizio, un’opportunità di fare finalmente qualche amicizia. Ma quello stesso sentimento fu spazzato via in meno di un’ora. Un’ora sola era bastata, infatti, ad una GEM per spingermi la testa nel gabinetto e tirare lo sciacquone.
La sua mano ossuta mi premeva la testa. L’acqua mi sbatteva sulla pelle, inondando il mio naso. Soffocavo, con le unghie che graffiavano la porcellana.
Pensai: ‘Ecco, morirò in questo modo, con la mia faccia risucchiata da uno scarico’. Poi, quasi lo feci di nuovo. Mentre le mie dita si contraevano, sentii il desiderio di fare l’unica cosa che mio padre mi aveva detto di non poter mai fare. La cosa che ci avrebbe ucciso entrambi.
“Adesso sai qual è il tuo posto, Blem” disse la ragazza. Mi liberò e rantolai in cerca d’aria. “La prossima volta non ti lascerò andare.”
I suoi tacchi risuonarono sulle mattonelle e la ragazza con il suo gruppetto corsero fuori ridacchiando. Mi alzai a fatica dal pavimento con le gambe tremanti. Al lavandino, presi un gran respiro e cercai di calmare il mio cuore che batteva all’impazzata e di domare la crescente delusione che sentivo.
Questo avrebbe dovuto essere il mio nuovo inizio dopo l’Area 10.
Rimossi il fazzoletto che avevo ancora in testa e mi misi a ridere. Trasferirmi qui avrebbe dovuto tenermi al sicuro. Come diceva mio padre: dalla padella alla brace.
“’Se non riesci a sopportare il calore, allora stai lontana dalla cucina’” borbottai tra me e me.
“Stai bene?”
Sobbalzai. Quando mi girai c’era una ragazza dalla pelle scura che mi fissava docilmente, esibendo un sorriso sdentato. Sulla sua giacca nera vestiva il simbolo dei Blemished – un cerchio contenente una semplice croce, per ricordarci che croce rappresentavamo per la società che doveva sopportarci. Una ‘Difettosa’, come me.
Era leggermente grassottella e stimavo la sua età intorno ai 14 anni, o forse si trattava di una tredicenne alta, con dei begli occhi marroni.
“Scusa se non sono intervenuta…” disse appena percettibilmente e si chinò a fissarsi le mani, che non avevano smesso un attimo di tormentare le maniche della giacca.
“Non preoccuparti” dissi, “Non c’era nessun bisogno che le prendessimo entrambe.” Mi sforzai di sorridere per non mostrare rancore. Dopotutto, avevo bisogno di almeno un alleato in questa orribile scuola.
Mi voltai verso il lavandino e vi strizzai il fazzoletto inzuppato.
“E’ solo che, bè, questi bagni sono solo per le GEM e ci ho fatto un salto solo perché ero disperata”, la ragazza non smetteva di parlare. “Elena Darcey è una vera strega. Pensa di essere la padrona della scuola, perché potrebbe essere scelta per andare a Londra.”
Un brivido mi corse lungo la schiena. Dovevo ricordare alle mie mani di stare ferme.
“Sei sicura di stare bene?” chiese la ragazza, assumendo un’espressione preoccupata.
“Perfettamente” mentii.
“Io sono Angela, comunque”. Fece un passo verso di me, ma io non mi voltai, mi limitai a guardarla dallo specchio del bagno. “Tu devi essere Mina Hart, la nuova ragazza.” Rise piano. “Non abbiamo spesso nuove ragazze al St. Jude. Bè, almeno non ‘difettose’, intendo. Ecco qui: fammiti aiutare. E’ il minimo che possa fare.”
Angela prese dalle mie mani il fazzoletto e lo stese sotto l’asciugamani elettrico. Il tessuto nero cominciò a gonfiarsi con l’aria calda e mi ricordò la bandiera della Resistenza. Avevo visto le foto di una loro protesta una volta, me le aveva mostrate mio padre. Ma poi il pensiero andò a mia madre e dovetti chiudere gli occhi per riguadagnare l’autocontrollo.
“E’ sempre così qui?” chiesi, alzando la voce per sovrastare il ronzio dell’asciugamani.

Source text - English Il proiettile passò oltre con un forte 'Zing'! Percival 'King Louie' Washington abbassò la testa quando il proiettile rimbalzò sui mattoni del bagno alle sue spalle. Era accucciato dietro ad un muretto che portava ai bagni di un edificio a cortina. Louie stava cercando una copertura per la sparatoria che stava continuando nel parco principale della città.
"Dannazione!" disse a voce alta. Era tutta colpa di Misty! "Quest'anno l'assemblea dei soci della Justice Security, sarà organizzata come un pick-nick nel parco cittadino," aveva detto. "Sarà fantastico!" Maledetto il suo piccolo ego animato e maledetto anche quel pick-nick! Avrebbe dovuto rimanersene a casa a letto a rilassarsi! Questi erano i pensieri che gli passavano per la testa in quei pochi secondi. Ad alta voce disse di nuovo: "Dannazione!"
Louie sporse un po' la testa per dare un'occhiata ed un proiettile colpì il muretto di fronte a lui, gettando pezzi di mattone infranto e malta sul suo viso. Si riabbassò silenziosamente.
"Louie! Stai bene, ragazzo? Rispondimi!" gracchiò la radio di Louie.
Louie scosse la testa un paio di volte, cercando di ripulirsi. Dopo averlo fatto, afferrò la radio. "Sì, Joey, sto bene. Un po' di schegge di mattoni mi hanno colpito in viso, ma nient'altro."
"Ho visto. Era vicino. Troppo vicino."
"Chi sono questi stronzi, Joey?" chiese Louie.
"Potrebbero appartenere alla Famiglia Giambini," disse Joey Justice. La Justice Security si era fatta dei nemici nella Famiglia Giambini, quando questa aveva rapito Jacqueline Belew. I figli adottivi, di cui si prendeva cura la Belew, avevano assunto la Justice Security per ritrovarla. Nel caos che ne era risultato, la compagnia aveva ritrovato la Belew, ma la Famiglia Giambini aveva messo una taglia sulla testa di Joey. "Ce l'hanno ancora con me...ma non ne sono del tutto sicuro."

Prese il suo manganello e lo aggiunse al gancio speciale della sua cintura. La sua radio e la cima di salvataggio d’emergenza, vi erano anch’esse agganciate. La fondina, che conteneva la sua Glock semiautomatica, era rimasta sul comò. Il suo incarico non richiedeva che fosse armato.
Sul suo badge luccicante si leggeva “Justice Security” in cima. Sotto, in lettere più piccole, apparivano le parole “Divisione Sicurezza in Uniforme” e sotto quella frase, c’era “Brazzle-759”.
Gus lavorava per la divisione sicurezza in uniforme per la Justice Security. Il capo della divisione, il boss di Gus, era Tony Armstrong. Tony lavorava nell’ufficio principale della Justice Security e vigilava sulle entrate e le uscite della compagnia, ma sovraintendeva anche i “grunts”, i soldati semplici, come veniva chiamato il personale in abiti civili. I soci che erano responsabili per aver creato la compagnia e che la finanziavano, avevano anche diviso le responsabilità in vari settori. Chi, di fatto, si occupava dei ‘soldati semplici’ era Misty Wilhite, socia fondatrice e da tempo fidanzata con Joey Justice, dal quale la compagnia prendeva il nome.
A Gus, Misty piaceva molto.

Putna Monastery, Suceava County.
It is the first monastery built by Stephen the Great, dedicated to the victory through which he conquered the Kilia citadel in 1466. The legend says that the prince drew a bow from a mountain, deciding that where the arrow will fall, a church would be raised. The work lasted from 1466 until 1469. The chronicler Ion Neculce recorded that the church was very beautiful, being covered with gold both inside and outside.
With the death of the prince, Putna Monastery has passed through hard times. Its roof was destroyed, the lead on it being used to manufacture bullets. The church was burned several times, each time being rebuilt. The only building left from the time of Saint Stephen the Great is the Treasure Tower, which was built in 1481. Here were housed, in times of distress, the monastery treasures.
At the entrance there is a tower dating from 1757, which gathers emblems of Moldova and Wallachia. It is named Eminescu Tower to commemorate the anniversary of the monastery, which was attended by our great national poet, along with other men of culture.
The monastery was an important cultural center. Here were copied manuscripts and were made precious miniatures. The place has a rich museum of manuscripts, religious objects, icons, and the medieval embroidery collection is the largest in Southeastern Europe.
In 1966, by the UNESCO recommendation, the anniversary of 500 years from the foundation of Putna Monastery was celebrated worldwide. Putna Monastery is an example of faith, history, and culture, Mihai Eminescu saying that it is the Jerusalem of Romanian people.

È il primo monastero costruito da Stefano il grande, dedicato alla vittoria con la quale conquistò la fortezza di Kilia nel 1466. La leggenda dice che il principe scoccò una freccia con l’arco da una montagna, decidendo che dove la freccia sarebbe caduta si sarebbe dovuta erigere una chiesa. L’opera durò dal 1466 fino al 1469. Il cronista Ion Neculce appuntò che la chiesa era molto bella, coperta d’oro sia fuori che dentro.
Con la morte del principe, il monastero di Putna ebbe fortune avverse. Il suo detto fu distrutto, lo stagno su di esso fu usato per creare proiettili. La chiesa fu incendiata parecchie volte, ma ogni volta fu ricostruita. L’unico edificio che rimane dal tempo di Santo Stefano il grande è la Torre del Tesoro, costruita nel 1481. Qui veniva ospitato, in tempi di pericolo, il tesoro del monastero.

I'm a Translator, a Proofreader, an Interpreter, but even a Journalist and a Teacher. I love studying languages and I love traveling. In my life there is always a book to read on the night stand, because languages, travels and books are all experiences you can pass down to people you love.
I worked for 10 years as Press Agent for an important Italian Trade Union, writing press releases, organizing press conferences and occasionally I still work for the above-mentioned no-profit organization Press Agency.
I teach English and Italian in an Informal Learning School and I like it very much.
As well as literature and poetry translations, I work as English to Italian translator on tourism, marketing, legal, IT and web or software jobs.
I think Italian grammar is very important but I believe the literary style is important as well. The style is something you create reading, and in my life there is always a book to read on the night stand.
That’s the reason why I write not only newspaper articles, but short stories, plays and sometimes poems.
I hold conferences about Literature, Rights and Writing, even in schools, and every year they are attended by more and more people.
