I am a freelance copy editor and proofreader who works with people for whom English is an additional language. I can help academics, other writers and those translating from their native language into English ensure that the English they use conforms to the appropriate standard and is idiomatically — as well as grammatically — correct. Since I work frequently with writers of fiction, poetry and screenplays, I am experienced in making (or suggesting how to make) the necessary amendments without losing the voice of the author or character.

I worked in education for many years, as a senior manager and data analyst as well as a qualified teacher. My nominal specialisms were sciences and languages, including English, but I have been called upon to teach many subjects over the years because my general knowledge is extensive and I am therefore comfortable working in a wide range of disciplines. I also read extensively and so can work with material aimed at any level of reader from academics to children.
