I am an Italian engineering researcher, I have been studying in English, French and Spanish as I spent the past years in French, English and Spanish speaking countries (France, Switzerland, US, Scotland, Spain).

I've always been interested in languages and cultures in general.
I have been translating letters and communications, business agreements, tenders for companies, and sometimes interpreting in an informal way, French to English when I lived in France and Switzerland, for my fellow students from outside the EU who only knew English.

2010 onwards - Freelance translator at Babylon LTD - freelance translator in the language pairs English>Italian, Italian>English, English>Spanish and Spanish>English. Worked on IT, tech, and marketing projects, a few legal and business related translations. Also translated some of their promotional and advertising material.



2011 onwards - Freelance translator at ABBYY language services – freelance translator in the language pair English>Italian. Worked on a big project on the localization of a navigation software and on the localization of videogames.



2011 onwards - Freelance translator at TRADULAB S.L. – freelance translator in the language pairs English>Italian and Spanish>Italian. Worked on a tech project for a well known office security equipment company and a few other general / legal projects.



2011 onwards - Freelance proofreader at SDL Language Weaver – editor in the language pair English>Italian. Worked on a tech / IT and an IT / tourism machine translation proofreading projects.







SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION




2010 - Joint PhD position at Scottish Microelectronics Centre (SMC), King’s Building, University of Edinburgh and MIcroSystems Engineering Centre (MISEC), Earl Mountbatten Building, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Research activity on magnetic MEMS for IC integration applications.



2007 – 2009 MEng Hons in Micro and Nano Technologies for ICT held by Politecnico di Torino – Turin, Italy, INPG – Grenoble, France and EPFL – Lausanne, Switzerland. Graduation on 11th September 2009 with 110/110 cum laude final score.

March 2007 – July 2007 Internship at Biodiversity S.R.L. – Brescia (BS), Italy on the “Development and Characterization of low density DNA microarrays”. New polymeric materials employed to build prototype microarrays.
