Alcaloides quinuclidínicos: son muy abundantes (3-15%) pero su cantidad y tipos varían según la especie. Generalmente los alcaloides se encuentran combinados con ácidos orgánicos y con taninos. Destacan principalmente dos tipos de alcaloides:
o Derivados de la quinoleína: quinina, cinconidina, (quinidina), cinconina y dihidroderivados (hidroquina, hidrocinconidina, hidroquinidina, hidrocinconina)
