Japanese to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Medical: Pharmaceuticals
Japanese term or phrase: 適合
In a stability testing report (on a new drug) where both 適合 and 合格 are used in the same context, should 適合 be translated as suitable and 合格 as acceptable?
Can anyone give me any suggestions?
Thank you very much!

conforms to

Explanation:
I think in this context "conforms to" would sound most natural in English.

I think "conformant" would sound unnatural in isolation and may lead to confusion. The most natural sounding English would use "conforms to..." but obviously the structure would have to be reworded. "Compliant" (meeting or in accordance with rules or standards) is better if you need to stick with an adjective.

Asker: Yes, I think so, but this context needs an adjective, and I just wonder if "conformant" sounds strange here

Notes to answerer
Asker: Yes, I think compatible sounds better than suitable in terms of technical context, but I am still confused as to why the authors of the Japanese Pharmacopeia use "suitability" to translate "適合〔性〕" in to English instead of compatibility.
