Japanese term
皮膚滴下投与
Japanese to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Please let me know about a technical term of an administration method for liquid medicines.
What is the appropriate term for an administration method, where you place a few drops of the liquid medicine on your lesion site such as athlete’s foot? 日本語では、皮膚に滴下投与する、といいます。
I can find several terms including: percutaneous application, dermal administration, topical application, etc., but there is not terms with expression of “drip” or “drop”.
For example, are “percutaneous application by dropping” or “topical application by dripping” common terms in medical field?
And in this case, which is better between “by drip” and “by drop”?

instillation は、静注が主かと思っていましたが、調べてみると、このようにj皮膚や粘膜に滴下するときも使えるようです。 cinefil さん、ありがとうございました。 |

topical application of a few drops
if it's for skin lesions and you want to apply directly, then I would use 'topical application' as 'percutaneous' sounds more like transdermal, 経皮(膚), and so does 'dermal administration' for may be more systemically affecting drugs. Topical means it's contained in an area, so if already talking about skin lesions and directly applying drug for it there, then just 'topical application' would suffice.
You can also google 'topical administration drops' then it will come up with many examples of how they could be used for, in combination, in whatever the sentence structure that you wish to used the term for (ex. apply a few drops of xxx topically, etc)
Instillation does sound more 注入, so if the lesion is somehow in a concavity, or in a pocket like structure, then it might fit well.
My two cents. Good luck !
