The first time, the first ride in the tube Explanation: Another possibility. I did grow up in and around the So. Cal. Pacific coast where American surfing was born. I would translate this without being literal. Onda here is the ride and the pipe, if it is not referring specifically to Pipeline, is called the"tube" in surfing jargon. Being "in the tube" is fundamentally the highest point of any surfer's possibilities in big waves and also has the connotation of "being on top of the world." |
