Italian term

coppie coniche delle trasmissioni ad albero

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Engine oils
Il prodotto è specifico per la lubrificazione delle ___coppie coniche delle trasmissioni ad albero___ di modelli YYY, ed è impiegabile laddove originariamente prescritto il lubrificante XXX.

I am not sure if this is one term or two. I can see that "albero di trasmissione" is driveshaft (or similar), but I don't think this is the same thing. And the coppie thing has me stumped.

Discussion

James (Jim) Davis Feb 9, 2007:
Some motor bikes do have shafts, but they wouldn't need a differential with only one wheel (on the back that is) so I should go for the bevel gear pairs, but I bet Derek Smith knows more about this than me.
Colin Ryan (X) (asker) Feb 9, 2007:
Wait, wait. This is a lubricant for motorcycles. Does your suggestion still make sense, Jim? (I wasn't offended about the photo by the way!)
James (Jim) Davis Feb 9, 2007:
Oops Sorry Ryan, you look splendid. The Giorgio Marolli technical dictionary.
Colin Ryan (X) (asker) Feb 9, 2007:
This photo is from my wedding day, for your information! What's the thing you're asking me if I've got one or not...?

bevel gear pair /crown wheel and pinion

I accept no responsibility this is from the Marolli dictionary, very reliable. I do know that the crown wheel and pinion is the differential for the back axle drive cos I've seen a lot of them working under cars. How's tricks Ryan. When you gonna change that photo, it doesn't do you justice?

BTW haven't you got one? Mine must be twenty years old but it still works pretty well.

agree Derek Smith : bevel gear pairs (sets) ... You're right - if the engine is longitudinal and the vehicle is rear-wheel drive.

Wouldn't it be a crown wheel and pinion on an auto?
