German term

Un-Ruhestand

German to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings pun
Hello all,

I'm looking for a similarly "witty" rendering of "wünschte ihm einen „erholsamen Un-Ruhestand"" in English!

Many thanks!

Context Thanks for the suggestions so far guys! I would LIKE to use "growing old disgracefully" but I think it's a bit informal for the context i have. I'm really sorry, I forgot to specify the context - it's the retirement of the Doyen of the Consular Corps ;-) I think any reference to "behaving disgracefully" might be construed as inappropriate ;-) Sorry about that!

neutral Francis Lee (X) : misses the "Un-Ruhe" aspect / perhaps "an anything but retiring retirement" ?

I think the "un" does cover it, Francis. What is missing is the play on words.

It depends what the actual context is but perhaps this might work

relaxing unrest/growing old disgracefully

I think the term is meant to be a pun on "unrest" which "un-retirement" doesn't seem to cover, but I can't think of anything much better. Perhaps you could do something with "wishing that he can enjoy the chance to grow old disgracefully"?

Well, I\'m glad you like the disgraceful option, even if it doesn\'t fit here!
