Les enquêtes régionales US étaient en berne, le chiffre de la croissance du second trimestre 2008 est sorti relativement faible et le taux de chômage annuel a grimpé à 5,7%. En Zone Euro, les indicateurs économiques étaient également moroses et ont renforcé les anticipations de ralentissement économique. L'environnement fut alors favorable pour les obligations d'Etat européennes. Le PMI a baissé en-dessous de sa barrière neutre de 50 et l’IFO a touché le niveau bas de 97.5. L’activité et le sentiment du marché se sont également détériorés. Par ailleurs, l’indice des prix à la consommation a été publié à 4% sur un an (plus haut depuis 1991) alors que l’augmentation des taux directeurs (+25 bps) par la BCE le 3 juillet fut attendue par le marché.

stagnare mi sembra un proposta interessantissima, anche se mi sembra che "cozzi" con il soggetto. Avrei usato "stagnare",se il soggetto fosse stato,chessò... "la situation des" o "l'état des"
