English term

accepted or received?

English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general)
For Unit No. 1, pre-operation tests were in the presence of inspectors from the Agency.

We finished all the tests with good results and accepted(received???) the certificate of conformance.

I think it should say "...test were performed (or carried out) in the presence..."

IMHO fits better than either received or accepted
Peer comment(s):

agree Anna Quail : You're right! Why go with one or the other when there's a better solution :-)

disagree Tony M : It's not really the kind of 'certificate' that gets 'awarded'; at worst, 'granted'

It is similar to receiveing a prize for something like the Nobel Prize.
Then you either accept or refuse.

But what on earth is a certificate of conformance? Do you mean certificate of compliance?
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Oh yes, surely it's a 'compliance certificate'?

This one is interesting. The above answers are adequate, but with acceptance, it would make it appear that the person receiving the certificate was doing the certificate giver a favour. While the contrary is more probable. The inspectors accepted the results.
