English term or phrase: Transitional fossil
Hi,

Please see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitional_fossil

I hope you'll bear with me for a rather substantial quantity of text as I think it does a reasonable job of demonstrating what a transitional fossil is.

"It is regrettable that the opponents of evolution demonize the whole thing rather than look objectively at it and present cogent arguments based on its problems, the most important of which must be the lack of transitional fossils: our arms, for example, are quite amazing in the functions they carry out, and for them to have evolved (in whatever stage of the evolutionary chain) must have lasted millennia and, if the theory of evolution is true, it is inconceivable that there should be nothing in the fossil record showing a partly-developed arm. A partly-developed arm would be an example of a transitional fossil."

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

transitional fossil
geçiş formu/türü

Explanation:
In Turkish, "fosil" means Any preserved evidence of ancient life, including shells, imprints, burrows, coprolites, and organically-produced chemicals.
In here it is more like a transition species...
So it's not geçiş fosili, it's geçiş formu/türü...
