Scoring
Two different models of scoring can be used.
The first model of scoring (model 1) considered the response ‘not applicable’ to be ‘0’, thereby classifying an individual as less severe than an individual with a response of ‘1’ (aware).
The second model of scoring (model 2) considered the response ‘not applicable’ as missing data, thereby classifying an individual as unconcerned.
The items can be used and analysed separately.
Thee dimension scores can be also calculated using the mean value of the items scores; awareness of the disease (item 1, 2, 3), awareness of positive symptoms (items 4, 5, 6), and awareness of negative symptoms (items 7, 8, 9).
