English term or phrase: hotspot
HOTSPOT = an invisible area to which you can assign a hyperlink. Hotspots are useful if you want to link specific areas of page, such as a specific area of a picture, but not the whole picture.

I know it probably can be left in English, but please let me know if there is a Finnish equivalent as well.

Thank you in advance and a Happy New Year in 2005!

Aktiivialue
Explanation:
(Active area) Better late than never. From the Finnish Information Processing Association glossary -> H. As far as I know, IBM has used "kohdepiste" (target point) and "kohdepistekuva" (target point picture) for hotspot, but IMO "aktiivialue" is an excellent translation.
