اردني

Arabic to English Other Real Estate
I've been staring at this sentence for the past ten minutes - I still can't figure out what اردني could mean here. Certainly not Jordanian - or could it?? Or is it a typo??
وكالة خاصة: أنا (الخ الخ) بصفتي المالك للأرض والعقار القائم عليها والواقع في الحوض رقم(...) اردني قطعة رقم (...) من أراضي وعر البير، القدس، بأنني - الخ
Any ideas? THanks

In support of my comment, note the historical use of 4 as a sort of definition.
Non-ProZ.com Nov 19, 2004:
Thanks Aisha - It's a power of attorney concerning a plot of land in Jerusalem. I am thinking it may refer to a historically Jordanian area, as ArabicSoft indicated. But the idea that it may be the name of the place is also valid..

Jordanian

It could mean nothing else in this context. Notice also that there are no commas anywhere!!

agree MElHelw : Agree. The word Jordanian here refers to the حوض no. as given by the Jordanian registering authority as opposed maybe to other divisions of houd's used by Ottomans or British mandate. In other case forwarded by Aisha I believe Jordanian will also do.

agree Mustafa Fadhel : For all old documents concerning real estate was in Jordan government or so. So it’s just a reference. It doesn’t mean that the land belong to Jordan.

Hello Nesrin,
I assume that your text is a land sales contract or the like. اردني is a place/building/area/municipal area name. I have seen these kinds of constructions before in such texts, although normally as العقار رقم , س س, اسم العقار (no commas in the text, mind you) . Here it is likely to be the الحوض (area/basin) name. Depending on the further context, you can either translate it as "Jordanian", as Mona has suggested, or transliterate it, which is what I often do for small place/building names, but that depends on your context.

I think the following may be of some help to you:
http://www.mitd.gov.eg/affliates/ICA/ICA_services.htm

Or it may just indicate that that area falls within a Jordanian area if it is in a disputed territory. Further context should help.
