Der Text handelt von der Benutzung on Telefondiensten und internationale Gespraeche werden dabei in zwei *Grossbereiche* eingeteil: kontinental= Europa und intercontinental= Laender ausserhalb Europas.

Hier mein zu uebersetzender Satz: ..., wenn sich der erste und die weiteren Gespraechsteilnehmer im gleich *Grossbereich* befinden.

You are right! Thanks for the pointer - I am still "green" at ProZ. Also, I felt silly after reading your first response and realizing how simple the answer really was and reacted too quickly. In the context "geographical regions" worked best. BTW - how to I post Thanks to responses without grading?

Sorry, I did not read your question properly. In the above context and when introducing those terms, I\'d probably say: there are two **wider geographical areas** or **main geographical areas**.

In subsequent passages, I would cut out the \"wider\": ...are located in the same **geographical area**.
