Jag förstår inte vad en mening i Tove Janssons Bildhuggarens dotter betyder. Det gäller berättelsen Husdjur och fruar och stycket handlar om en hund (Pyret) som pappan hade under sin barndom:

Farmor hittade honom i en soptunna under Frihetskriget. Han var så liten och hemsk att alla som såg honom blev rörda och så fort som möjligt ville bli av med honom. Därför fick farmor kalops år Pyret när hon visade honom på kökssidan i syltorna och familjen hade mat varenda dag.
