ho trovata la seguente specifica dalla FAO:
FAO ha introdotto una definizione più analitica, distinguendo tra PLANTATION e PLANTED FORESTS: PLANTATIONS: piantagioni vere e proprie, ovvero impianti artificiali, spesso di specie non native, gestiti per la produzione di prodotti forestali legnosi e non o per l’erogazione di
servizi di protezione. PLANTED FORESTS: parti di foreste semi-naturali, ovvero foreste estensive a rinnovazione artificiale di solito di specie native.
e il testo parla sia di plantation sia di planted forests.

In this continuum the boundary between planted and naturally regenerating forests is often indistinct.
