I am thinking to take the exam to obtain the Diploma in Translation (English into Italian). Any advice would be really appreciated.

Ciao,

anch'io tempo fa mi sono posta le tue stesse domande...

Alla fine, l'esame non l'ho più sostenuto, ma in compenso ho conosciuto tanti colleghi simpaticissimi.

Be prepared. May 27, 2007

I have done two DipTransIoL exams (on two successive days), and was successful in all six papers. So I probably have more relevant experience than most.

You should be well prepared. The pass rate is low. The first suggestion I would make is to get some past papers and try your hand at them. There are several courses available in distance mode, but I am not so sure which institutions offer them for your combination. (I think there may be some information about that on the IoL’s website.)

There is one point you should take note of when attempting past papers: the "annotations" component has now been abolished.

Try looking at the website.... Jun 2, 2007

HERE!

Basically, you do a three-hour general translation paper, and then two two-hour “semi-specialised” papers. So that’s seven hours in one day. It wasn’t enough for me, and so I went back and did it all again in another language pair the next day. I don’t recommend that, though.
