Alla fine, l'esame non l'ho più sostenuto, ma in compenso ho conosciuto tanti colleghi simpaticissimi.

In memoriam
Be prepared.

I have done two DipTransIoL exams (on two successive days), and was successful in all six papers. So I probably have more relevant experience than most.
You should be well prepared. The pass rate is low. The first suggestion I would make is to get some past papers and try your hand at them. You should be well prepared. The pass rate is low. The first suggestion I would make is to get some past papers and try your hand at them. Depending on how difficult/easy you find them, you might need to enrol in a course. There are several courses available in distance mode, but I am not so sure which institutions offer them for your combination. (I think there may be some information about that on the IoL’s website.)

Basically, you do a three-hour general translation paper, and then two two-hour “semi-specialised” papers. So that’s seven hours in one day. It wasn’t enough for me, and so I went back and did it all again in another language pair the next day. I don’t recommend that, though.
