Introduction
Placenta has been widely used as an instrument to aid anti-aging, boost health as well as used to alleviate menopausal and allergy symptoms. Throughout the years, various animal based placenta has been widely used, namely human, pig, sheep and horse placenta. Each type of animal placenta claim to be the safest, most compatible with the composition of the human body and more easily absorbed than the other. However, the risks associated with using animal placenta are still unknown about the emergence of a variety of additional infections such as AIDS, BSE, H1N1 and the like. Therefore, some placenta was banned for cosmetic and medical use. Sejak sekian lama, plasenta berasaskan haiwan digunakan dengan meluas, iaitu manusia, babi, bebiri dan kuda. Setiap jenis plasenta haiwan didakwa paling selamat dan sesuai dengan komposisi tubuh manusia serta lebih senang diserap daripada yang lain. Namun risiko yang dikaitkan dengan penggunaan plasenta haiwan masih belum diketahui tambahan pula dengan munculnya berbagai infeksi seperti AIDS, BSE, H1N1 dan seumpamanya. Oleh yang demikian, sebahagian plasenta telah diharamkan untuk penggunaan kosmetik dan perubatan.
